The Lee County sports complex is a world-class destination for sports enthusiasts. It is home to Hammond Stadium, five additional playing fields, and the new Twins Player Development Academy. It also houses two minor league affiliates of the Twins – the Ft. Myers Miracle, of the Florida State League Single-A, and the Twins of the Gulf Coast League, rookie level.

National Safe Boating Week is also celebrated every year with various events taking place across Lee County's waterways. Cyclists can join Ride of – an annual event that takes place on May 17th – or take part in other cycling activities throughout Lee County's roads and trails. The Lee County Community Tennis Association also offers part-time executive director positions for those interested in tennis tournaments and other related activities.
